Roadway Construction – Bedford Road Closure between Foxberry Lane & Pheasant Lane June 24, 2024 to August 16, 2024

Daniels Construction, the Town of New Boston’s selected contractor, has been authorized to reconstruct the Bedford Road Culvert over Cochran Brook. The project has been fully funded as authorized by the successful vote of Article 9 of the 2024 New Boston Warrant.

The construction is scheduled to begin on June 17, 2024, and last approximately 12 weeks. During this period, a full road closure will be implemented from June 24, 2024 to August 16, 2024 (8 weeks) to allow for the installation of a new box culvert to replace existing substandard infrastructure. Please note that construction will be limited to daytime hours and not occur during Federal Holidays.

Detour routes have been established to guide traffic during the construction period. The posted detour will include adequate signage and strive to keep traffic on River Road (NH Route 13) to the maximum extent possible. A copy of the planned detour route is included herein.

We kindly request that you plan your activities accordingly, consider alternate routes, and avoid the construction area when possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused to residents and motorists.

Explanation of Article 09:  The goal of this project with the help of grant funds, is to replace the existing high-risk crossing with an open bottom span structure which provides both streamed and bank simulation.  The improved section will be wide enough to allow aquatic organism passage and improved terrestrial passage.  The new crossing would pass the 100-year storm and would be constructed with modern construction practices to provide a long-term reliable solution.  In 2020, Warrant Article #19 for $75,000 was passed by the Town to start the design and permitting effort.  The Town was fortunate to receive the NHDES Grant of $400,000 to assist in funding this project.  If this article fails, the Town will lose the NHDES grant.
