Public Notice: Cancellation of Residential Hazardous Waste Collection Day

Public Notice: Cancellation of Residential Hazardous Waste Collection Day
The Town hereby announces that the Residential Hazardous Waste Collection Day scheduled for this year June 20, 2026, has been cancelled.
This tough decision was made due to the significant costs associated with event setup, vendor services, staffing, transportation, and regulatory compliance, which cannot be supported under the currently approved default budget. After careful review, the Select Board determined that these expenses are not financially feasible at this time.
The cancellation reflects the constraints imposed by the default budget vote and was not made lightly. The Town recognizes the importance of safe and responsible disposal of hazardous household materials and remains committed to exploring cost-effective alternatives or future opportunities when fiscal conditions are allowed.
The Town appreciates the community’s understanding and cooperation as we continue to prioritize essential services while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Gerry Cornett, Transfer Manager, reached out to multiple vendors and larger towns with multiple annual collection events. Only one vendor reported that will accept materials directly from residents. The current pricing is $45.00 per unit. 5 gallons or 20 pounds
