New Boston Recreation LogoThe New Boston Recreation Commission meets in the "Old Engine House" at 5 Meetinghouse Hill Road. The building is on the Town Common between the Gazebo and Town Hall. The department was established by vote of the townspeople at the annual Town Meeting on March 4, 1975.

Mission Statement: “Our mission is to enrich and enhance the lives of the residents of New Boston.  We accomplish this by providing safe, welcoming facilities and affordable, diverse recreation and cultural opportunities for people of all ages to play, learn, and build community.”

Values Statement: The New Boston Recreation Department fulfills its mission by:

  1. Ensuring that activities are available to all New Boston residents regardless of age, race, sex, religion, physical or mental abilities, and social or economic status while celebrating ethnic diversity.
  2. Being committed to public and employee safety.
  3. Encouraging public participation through outreach and community relations.
  4. Being fiscally responsible and embracing our role as stewards of the town’s trust.
  5. Recognizing contributions from volunteers that help make us successful.
  6. Using professional and equitable standards when planning to reflect community heritage, needs, and changing interests.
  7. Recognizing the added benefits of inter-agency and community relationships.”
