Public Parcel Review Meeting - FAQs What is the purpose of the GIS mapping project? The primary goal of this stage of the mapping project is to create accurate property maps that depict the size, shape, and location of each parcel in town. This information, based on custom photography and ground control, will form the foundation for the Town’s AxisGIS Website, which is highly user-friendly and a valuable resource for the town and residents. Why did my lot size change? Changes in lot size may occur if a parcel has not been accurately surveyed or has never been surveyed. Old area measurements often originate from deeds or estimates based on deed descriptions. Some changes may also result from alterations in water courses. CAI employs computer software to calculate parcel areas for improved accuracy. What should I do if I disagree with the change? You are encouraged to attend the Public Parcel Review Meeting on January 15th from 9am-4pm at the Whipple Free Library. Please bring documentation, such as surveys, pertinent deeds, or a sketch of the property as you understand the boundaries to exist.
