Sherburne Forest

Sherburne Stream

The Sherburne Forest is a 70 acre parcel with multiple uses. Currently used as a source of sand for the New Boston Highway Department, a portion of the New Boston Trail runs through this parcel exploring several distinctly different areas. Two wetlands created by beaver dams, a stream, ancient glacial features such as an esker and large boulder deposits, and an old cellar hole from the 1770's. Due to the unique nature of the collection of features on this property, care is excercised in the management of this parcel with regard to wetland and streams, historic values, and the diverse wildlife and tree species located here. Parking for the Sherburne Forest is located off of the class IV Cochran Hill Road, south of the Friendly Beaver Campground. Please read through the attached management plan that explains the how and why of sustainable forestry practices specific to this unique parcel.
